The Dissertation Writing Fellowship is offered to enable graduate students to share in the energetic, multi-faceted research environment within the Humanities and Social Sciences Divisions at NYUAD. NYUAD invites applications from NYU PhD students for the Fellowship, which will be conducted in residence at NYUAD.
Fellowships and Awards The Graduate School offers a variety of support services for current graduate students seeking funding for short-term and long-term fellowship opportunities. These services include individualized fellowship advising, information sessions, grant writing workshops, and general application support.Ted Keusseff Fellowship. A dissertation writing fellowship. These awards carry a stipend and responsibilities identical to those of the standard Dean’s Dissertation Fellowship. Two of these are awarded annually to students in Chemistry and Physics. Thomas J. A dissertation writing fellowship.International students who apply by the specified deadline and are admitted to the Graduate School are automatically considered for Graduate School fellowships and scholarships. Most loan programs are restricted to U.S. citizens and permanent residents.

May 2020 graduates are eligible to apply to the Graduate School Alumni Fellowship. Applicants do not need to withdraw their dissertations to apply but may do so if they wish. If you receive one of the fellowships and have withdrawn your dissertation, you must immediately resubmit it upon receipt of the fellowship, for a December 2020 degree.
Scholarships and grants are types of gift aid that do not have to be repaid. They may take the form of University scholarships, federal or state grants, or outside scholarships. A financial aid package at NYU takes into account both financial need and academic merit. NYU awards very few exclusively merit-based scholarships, as we are committed.
Dissertation completion fellowships provide advanced doctoral students in the humanities and social sciences with an academic year of support to write and complete their dissertation. Eligible students in the humanities and social sciences are guaranteed a GSAS dissertation completion fellowship (DCF) between the G4 and G7 years and must apply for the DCF in advance of the dissertation.
Students on a first-year or dissertation fellowship (which have no service responsibilities) may spend up to ten hours per week on such non-fellowship activities. Furthermore, federal regulations prevent international students on F-1 visas from working more than twenty hours per week under all circumstances during the school term.

Applying for external fellowships is an important part of graduate education. Funds from a successful application can be used to supplement funds provided by GSAS, and the application process can aid both in clarifying the aims of a research project and in the cultivation of grant-writing skills.
GSAS International Travel Awards GSAS International Travel Fellowships provide advanced PhD students funding for international travel that is necessary for the completion of the dissertation. The Fellowships, which include the Lurcy, Mellon, Thompson, and Wollemborg, are to be used for an entire semester or academic year abroad.
